If you were around drinking age in 2010 you will remember a viral phenomenon called Bros Icing Bros that later evolved into just simply, “Getting ICED!” The concept was more of a drinking prank than a drinking game where someone would hide a bottle of Smirnoff ICE and if you found it you must get down on one knee and chug the entire bottle.

The Smirnoff Vodka brand introduced the drink originally back in 1999 when they saw the popularity of drinks like Mike’s Hard Lemonade hitting the market. Their product was known as a “girly drink” that had a sweet taste that most beer drinkers don’t love. Because of this stigma, frat boys caught wind of the prank and started hiding Smirnoff ICE everywhere. If you found one of these little Easter eggs you were lucky enough to get down on one knee and chug it immediately. Smirnoff was not involved in the creation of the game, but it spread so quickly that it helped their sales to this day.
